The Delta State Government has received the Best State in Cybersecurity Leadership Award from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). The award was presented at a program themed “Building A Resilient Digital Future,” held at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja.

According to Dr. Lawan A. Mohammed, Director, Cybersecurity Department, NITDA, the honor recognizes Delta State’s exemplary leadership in cybersecurity governance, infrastructure development, and cybersecurity awareness. “The relentless pursuits of the Delta State Government’s efforts in cybersecurity governance, infrastructure development, and cybersecurity awareness evidence in the state level in ensuring that people embrace digital technology,” Dr. Mohammed said.

Receiving the award on behalf of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, State Webmaster Comrade Louis Zuokumor Osiobe expressed gratitude to NITDA for the recognition. “This award will spur us to do more advocacy on the digital economy and cybersecurity, among other areas for enhanced peace and security in the state,” Osiobe said.

Osiobe highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s understanding of the importance of building resilient cybersecurity infrastructure, citing various achievements recorded towards cybersecurity in the state. He emphasized that Delta State has been recognized locally and internationally for its tech empowerment programs and cybersecurity-related training courses available at the Delta TechHub and Office of the State Webmaster.

“The state government is investment-ready for individuals or organizations that are ready to embrace and leverage the opportunities available in technology,” Osiobe said. “Service delivery in Delta State has been made easier through the digitalized and technology-driven agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.”

Osiobe also stressed the need for every individual, organization, and government agency to embrace cybersecurity, calling on Nigerian youths to navigate digitalization. “There is a need for every individual, organization, and government agency that desires growth to embrace cybersecurity,” he said.
