PRESIDENT TINUBU ORDERS MAJOR SECURITY CRACKDOWN IN KWARA FORESTS AMID KIDNAPPING SURGE
President Bola Tinubu has mandated a comprehensive security operation in the forests of Kwara State following a series of kidnappings and terrorist incidents that have plagued the region. The directive was announced by Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, who underscored the urgent need for enhanced air surveillance by the Nigerian Air Force to combat the escalating violence.

This decisive action comes in response to recent violent attacks, including the abduction of at least ten residents in Isapa, located within the Ekiti Local Government Area. In a separate incident, thirty-eight churchgoers were abducted in Eruku but were later rescued, highlighting the persistent threat to local communities. The Isapa attack saw armed bandits storm the community, firing indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee for their safety. Among those taken were a pregnant woman and two nursing mothers, illustrating the severe risks faced by families in the area.
Sunday Dare emphasized the government’s commitment to restoring safety, stating, “The President has ordered a thorough security operation to root out these criminal elements from our forests. We are prioritizing air surveillance to support ground forces and ensure the protection of all citizens.” He further encouraged communities to actively report any suspicious activities to security agencies, as public cooperation is vital to the success of these efforts.
The ongoing assaults have raised significant concerns about security in Kwara State, with stakeholders calling for immediate measures to restore stability. The situation reflects broader challenges across Nigeria, where kidnappings and banditry continue to threaten lives and disrupt communities, prompting renewed calls for sustained governmental intervention.
