President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Nigeria for Europe, continuing his end-of-year break before a key diplomatic engagement in the United Arab Emirates. This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga stated that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, extended an invitation to President Tinubu to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit. The event is scheduled for early January in Abu Dhabi. “The weeklong summit is an annual event that mobilises leaders from government, business, and society to chart the next era of sustainable development,” Bayo Onanuga noted.

The summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, will focus on connecting ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people. Onanuga added that it aims to showcase how the world can move forward with confidence on sustainable development. President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria following the conclusion of the summit.
