FEDERAL HIGH COURT DENIES BAIL TO BAUCHI STATE COMMISSIONER, THREE OTHERS IN TERRORISM FINANCING CASE
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has refused bail to Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and three other defendants facing terrorism financing charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Justice Emeka Nwite, who delivered the ruling, declined to extend the bail granted to Adamu just days earlier in a separate, high-profile money-laundering case. Last Friday, Justice Nwite had admitted Adamu to bail in the sum of Five Hundred Million Naira with two sureties in like sum, concerning an alleged money laundering of Four Point Six Billion Naira.
However, the court held a different position on the terrorism financing matter, which is being prosecuted independently. The denial of bail means Yakubu Adamu and his co-accused will remain in custody pending the hearing and determination of the terrorism financing charges.
Details of the specific allegations in the terrorism financing case were not immediately disclosed in the court’s bail proceedings. The ruling underscores the court’s stance on the severity of the charges, distinguishing them from the separate financial crime case where bail was granted.
