VIDEO SHOWS CLASH BETWEEN U.S. IMMIGRATION AGENT AND MAN KILLED IN MINNEAPOLIS
Newly released video footage has shown a physical confrontation between Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old U.S. nurse, and federal immigration agents in Minneapolis 11 days before he was fatally shot by border officers.
The footage, published by a digital media outlet and reviewed by CNN, captures Pretti shouting at agents and kicking their vehicle before officers briefly restrained him on the ground and later withdrew from the scene.
Pretti was killed on January 24 during a separate encounter with U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents amid an intensified immigration enforcement campaign under President Donald Trump’s administration.
Family lawyer Steve Schleicher said the earlier incident could not justify the fatal shooting, insisting Pretti posed no immediate threat at the time of his death.U.S. authorities confirmed they are reviewing the footage, as public scrutiny grows over federal immigration operations in Minnesota.
The case has fueled protests, political tensions, and renewed debate about the use of force by immigration agents.
The incident comes as Washington expands border and internal immigration crackdowns, policies that have drawn criticism from civil rights groups and some state officials.
