FEDERAL AGENTS PLACED ON LEAVE AFTER FATAL SHOOTING OF VETERANS AFFAIRS NURSE IN MINNEAPOLIS
Two federal agents who opened fire on a Veterans Affairs nurse in Minneapolis have been placed on leave, an official with the Department of Homeland Security said on Wednesday. The announcement comes as more voices, including some within the Republican Party, have broken with the White House over its handling of the fatal shooting.

The agents have been on leave since the shooting, the official said, revealing information that the White House had not previously disclosed. It remains unclear if the department has taken any action regarding other agents involved in the encounter with the nurse, Alex Pretti. Those agents had helped restrain Pretti before the two agents fired approximately 10 bullets into his back as he slumped onto the street.
The shooting has ignited criticism and raised questions about the use of force, with the Department of Homeland Security now facing increased scrutiny over the incident.
