The Nigerian Senate has confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Justice Joseph Olubunmi Kayode Oyewole, JCA, as a Justice of the Supreme Court.

The approval followed the presentation of the Judiciary, Human Rights & Legal Matters Committee report by its chairman, Senator Adeniyi Ayodele Adegbonmire (Ondo Central).

According to the report, the committee screened Justice Oyewole, questioning him thoroughly, and described his responses as “intelligent and satisfactory.”

Senators then unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendation, formally confirming Justice Oyewole’s appointment.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio congratulated the nominee, praying that he would be granted the wisdom to dispense justice fairly to all.

He also commended Senator Adegbonmire and committee members for the efficient handling of the screening process.

Akpabio praised President Tinubu for selecting a “square peg in a square hole,” ensuring a smooth and unanimous confirmation.

He expressed hope that Justice Oyewole, alongside current Supreme Court justices, would serve justice to both ordinary citizens and lawmakers alike.
