A fire outbreak on Saturday afternoon damaged part of the complex housing the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation in Abuja, destroying some property but leaving no casualties, officials have confirmed.

The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 p.m., triggering panic within sections of the government complex, which accommodates several federal ministries and administrative offices.

Emergency responders from the Federal Fire Service were immediately dispatched to the scene following distress calls. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours and successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other buildings within the complex.

Eyewitnesses said thick smoke billowed from one section of the structure, forcing workers and visitors within the premises to evacuate quickly while emergency teams worked to bring the situation under control.

Preliminary findings suggested that the fire started from a section of the complex housing key federal ministries. However, authorities said the exact cause of the incident had not been established at the time this report was filed.

Officials confirmed that while the fire caused damage to office equipment and parts of the building, no deaths or injuries were recorded.

Authorities are expected to launch a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate the level of damage. Government officials also assured that additional safety measures would be implemented across federal government facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
