Tinubu Orders Security Chiefs to Maiduguri After Deadly Bomb Blasts
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed top security chiefs to immediately relocate to Maiduguri following a series of deadly bomb explosions that have heightened security concerns in the region.
The attacks, which occurred in Borno State, reportedly claimed at least 23 lives and left more than 100 people injured, prompting swift federal intervention.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the President described the incidents as deeply distressing, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with those affected.
Tinubu assured Nigerians of his administration’s resolve to defeat terrorism, noting that the attacks signal desperation by insurgent groups facing sustained military pressure.
“These acts of terror are the final, frantic attempts by criminals seeking to spread fear as they come under relentless pressure from our armed forces and security agencies,” he said.
The President also commended the efforts of Nigerian troops for successfully repelling coordinated attacks on military formations, describing the perpetrators as “evil-minded groups” that would be decisively dealt with.
He further disclosed that additional military equipment and operational support had been approved following a recent high-level security meeting with defence and intelligence chiefs.
Tinubu added that emergency response agencies have been directed to provide immediate and adequate medical care to those injured, while security forces intensify operations to track down those responsible for the attacks.
