Troops of Sector 2 under Operation Fansan Yamma have killed nine terrorists, including two identified kingpins, in coordinated operations across Katsina and Zamfara states.

The military also recovered weapons and other items during the operations, including four AK-47 rifles and nine motorcycles.

In Katsina State, troops of the Forward Operating Base Fudma, while on a fighting patrol, engaged terrorists along the Turare–Yantumaki Road in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area. Four terrorists were neutralised during the encounter.

Items recovered from the scene include two AK-47 rifles with magazines, ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, and a sum of N153,000.

In a separate operation conducted between May 2 and 3, 2026, troops at the Forward Operating Base Bagega carried out a mission in Anka Local Government Area, leading to the killing of seven terrorists.

Among those neutralised were two notorious kingpins identified as Anaruwa and Gomina. Military sources said Anaruwa was the younger brother of Kachalla Idi Aiki, a known terrorist commander in the region.

Troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines and seven motorcycles during the Zamfara operation.

The latest operations are part of ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and restore stability in the North-West region.
