DSS Arraigns Chidiebere Justice Mark Over Alleged Military Incitement, Cybercrime in Abuja
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned Chidiebere Justice Mark, also known as “Justice Crack,” before the Federal High Court in Abuja on a three-count charge bordering on cybercrime and alleged incitement against the Nigerian military.
Mark was arrested over the weekend by the Nigerian Army before being handed over to the DSS for investigation and prosecution.
He is accused of circulating allegedly false information on social media regarding the welfare of soldiers of the Nigerian Army, including claims of inadequate feeding conditions, which authorities say were intended to cause public disaffection.
According to the charge sheet, the prosecution alleged that Mark used his X (formerly Twitter) handle @JusticeCrack to publish a viral video and accompanying statements that generated widespread reactions and were capable of causing fear and breach of public peace.
One of the counts stated that he knowingly disseminated false information with intent to provoke annoyance, ill will, and division among members of the public, an offence said to contravene provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Another count accused him of publishing material likely to cause fear and disturb public order, while the third alleged attempted felony through the circulation of derogatory content against the military.
Mark pleaded to the charges as the matter came before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who ordered that he be remanded in DSS custody.
The court adjourned the case to May 25, 2026, for trial and consideration of a possible bail application.
The case adds to growing legal scrutiny of online content deemed capable of inciting public unrest or undermining national security institutions, particularly the armed forces.
