A 19-year-old son who is a serving National Youth Service Corps member has allegedly stabbed his father, multi-billionaire businessman Chief Lucky Chinedu Adimike, to death at his residence in the Guzape area of Abuja.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of May 16, 2026, following a heated argument between the father and son. The disagreement reportedly began when the son returned home from a nightclub and was questioned by his father about his late return and alleged anti-social behaviour.

Sources indicate that the confrontation escalated over financial disputes, with the son allegedly accusing his father of being unfair with money and comparing him to other wealthy parents who bought luxury cars for their children. There were also claims relating to the alleged mismanagement of business funds.

The 19-year-old suspect reportedly stabbed his 53-year-old father three times in different parts of his body. The injured victim was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed him dead on arrival.

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched a full investigation. Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said officers responded to a distress call after concerns were raised over the inability to reach the deceased at his residence.

“When the police arrived, they found the injured victim in a pool of his own blood. He was confirmed dead by doctors on duty at Karu General Hospital,” Adeh said.

The police have arrested five suspects, including a relative of the deceased, as part of a discreet investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi. The prime suspect initially fled the scene but was subsequently apprehended.

Chief Lucky Adimike, a native of Awka Etiti in Anambra State, was the Chief Executive Officer of Lucky Accessories, a company involved in electronics, electrical appliances, and real estate. He was a major figure in Nigeria’s electronics and import business with a strong presence at Alaba International Market in Lagos . He was widely recognised for his generosity and quiet support of charitable and youth-centred causes.

Meanwhile, the Adimike family has cautioned the public against misinformation and unverified reports surrounding the death. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the family stressed that no official conclusion had been reached regarding those responsible for the incident.

“The family states unequivocally that many of the claims currently being peddled are speculative, misleading, and unsupported by facts emerging from the ongoing police investigation,” the family statement read.

The family added that the spread of unverified allegations was “irresponsible and deeply hurtful” to them during the mourning period and appealed to the media and public to allow security agencies to complete their investigations professionally.
