Following a closed-door meeting that lasted several hours with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos State on Thursday, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, addressed journalists on issues affecting the ruling party and ongoing political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, is believed to have centred on internal party affairs, recent political realignments, and strategies for strengthening the APC across the country.

Speaking with State House correspondents after the engagement, Yilwatda said the ruling party remained united and focused on consolidating its support base nationwide.

He also reiterated the commitment of the APC leadership to work closely with President Tinubu in delivering on the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda, stressing that the party was determined to maintain internal cohesion despite emerging political tensions in some states.

Although details of the discussions were not officially disclosed, party insiders said the talks may not be unconnected with recent developments within opposition parties, ongoing defections, and preparations ahead of future electoral contests.

The APC chairman expressed confidence in the strength of the party, insisting that the ruling party would continue to provide leadership and political stability across the country.

The meeting comes amid increasing political activities and alignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with major parties already intensifying consultations and internal restructuring.
