Romania requested an emergency Security Council meeting after a drone believed by Romanian authorities to be of Russian origin crashed into a residential building in the city of Galați, injuring two people and causing significant damage. Romanian officials described the incident as a serious violation of international law and a threat to regional security.

Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu is expected to address the Council, urging the international community to respond to what Bucharest views as a dangerous escalation affecting a NATO member state.

The Council is also meeting to discuss the deteriorating situation in Lebanon after France requested urgent deliberations over ongoing Israeli military operations in the country.
