Real Madrid are on the verge of completing the signing of Dutch international defender Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan after reaching a full agreement with the player over personal terms, according to multiple reports. The Spanish giants are expected to activate the €20 million release clause in the defender’s contract to finalize the move.

Reports indicate that Inter officials were informed of the agreement on Monday night, with Real Madrid now preparing the formal steps required to complete the transfer. The move is expected to be finalized without lengthy negotiations because of the release clause included in Dumfries’ contract.

The 30-year-old right-back has reportedly made Real Madrid his preferred destination despite interest from several other European clubs, including Liverpool FC. Sources close to the negotiations say Dumfries quickly accepted Madrid’s proposal, allowing the deal to progress rapidly.

The transfer is viewed as a strategic move by Real Madrid as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options ahead of the new season. Dumfries has established himself as one of Europe’s most reliable attacking full-backs during his time at Inter, contributing goals, assists, and defensive solidity in both domestic and European competitions.

The Netherlands international joined Inter in 2021 and has played a key role in the club’s recent successes in Serie A and European competitions. His combination of pace, physicality, and experience is expected to add depth and competition to Real Madrid’s squad.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano was among the first to report that the deal had been agreed, stating that Real Madrid would activate the €20 million clause and that only formalities remain before the transfer is officially announced.
