A group of women in Enugu State have staged a protest against commercial sex workers, accusing them of destroying marriages and luring away their husbands and sons.

The demonstration took place on Tuesday, June 16, in the Elugwu Akwu community, located in Oji Local Government Area.

The women marched through the streets carrying placards with messages such as “Sex workers must go” and “End prostitution in Elugwu Akwu”.

They expressed frustration over the increasing activities of sex workers in the area, which they claim is negatively affecting families and relationships. “We are tired. They have taken our husbands and sons,” one protester was heard saying.

In a colorful display of their grievance, the protesters also claimed that their husbands are no longer paying them adequate attention due to the influence of the sex workers.

The protest has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting the women while others argue that men should be held responsible for their own choices.

As of the time of reporting, no official statement has been released by the Enugu State Government or security agencies regarding the protest.
