The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), , has dismissed claims that the party sold nomination forms to former Kano State governor, , describing the allegation as false and misleading.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed denied reports that Kwankwaso purchased 69 nomination forms as part of an alleged plan to take over the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The PRP chairman said the claims lacked any factual basis, insisting that Kwankwaso is not affiliated with the party and has not obtained any nomination forms from it.

According to him, the allegation had earlier been refuted by the party’s leadership in Kano State, which described the report as a fabrication.

“The real state chairman of the PRP in Kano had released a statement saying this is just a complete lie,” Baba-Ahmed said.

“There’s no way Kwankwaso could have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano. We sell forms from Abuja.”

Baba-Ahmed further stated that the individual who made the allegation is unknown to the party and lacks the authority to speak or act on its behalf.

“The man who claimed that 69 forms were sold to Kwankwaso is not known to the party. He holds no position, has no authority to sell nomination forms on behalf of the party, and we do not recognise him,” he said.

The PRP national chairman suggested that the controversy may be linked to political tensions within Kano State, stressing that the party’s nomination process is centrally managed from its national headquarters in Abuja.

He explained that all nomination forms for recent party activities were issued through the national secretariat and that aspirants who participated in the process followed established procedures, including registration and primary elections.

Baba-Ahmed reiterated that the PRP has no record of any nomination form being sold to Kwankwaso and urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

The clarification comes amid growing political realignments and speculations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several opposition figures and political parties exploring possible alliances and strategic partnerships.
