APC’s Akere Tackles Adeleke Over Substandard Flyovers, Promises Violence-Free Election

The Osun State Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Oluomo Sunday Akere, has carpeted Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration over alleged substandard flyover projects, while outlining the APC’s blueprint for a technology-driven Osun if the party wins the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking at the Osun NUJ Guest Platform in Osogbo, Akere dismissed claims that the APC was responsible for the recent vandalisation of the flyover projects belonging to the incumbent governor. He turned the heat on the Adeleke administration, insisting that the projects were defective from conception.

He disclosed that the APC had raised concerns at the planning stage, noting that the contractors engaged were not professional construction firms. According to Akere, one of the contractors was registered with the CAC as a fertiliser merchant, while another was registered as a tie and dye merchant.

“The flyovers were substandard in the first place. We complained at the conception that the contractors were non-professionals,” Akere told the panel.

The former Commissioner for Information, who also recently emerged as Governor of the Lion Club in Osun, used the platform to sell the APC’s vision for the state, expressing confidence that the party’s flag bearer, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, would emerge victorious on August 15.

He cited the achievements of past APC administrations under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola, including the Omoluabi Saving Scheme that sustained half-salary payments to civil servants during lean periods and the Osun Empowerment Scheme which provided monthly stipends for school-leavers facing job scarcity.

Akere outlined that an incoming APC government would prioritise energy to drive technology-led development, enforce 35 per cent affirmative inclusion for women, and revamp the agricultural economy. He also listed education, infrastructure and security as key focus areas.

On security, he said the APC had demonstrated readiness by leveraging its local government dominance to provide armoured personnel carriers positioned at strategic locations across the state.

Osun NUJ Council Chairman, Dr. Adeyemi Aboderin, who hosted the programme, reiterated the council’s commitment to bridging the gap between politicians and the public, assuring that journalists would give wide coverage to the information provided.

Akere appealed to the opposition to allow peace to reign, expressing optimism that August 15 would usher in a new dawn for Osun under the APC.
