23-Year-Old Sadiya Lawal in Police Net for Attempted Murder of Husband in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old housewife, Sadiya Lawal, for allegedly attempting to kill her husband by slitting his throat while he was asleep in Katsina metropolis.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 29, 2026. The victim, Jamilu Ibrahim, reported the attack at the Central Market Police Division at about 9 a.m. the same day.

According to the police, the attack happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. while the victim was asleep. The suspect allegedly used a sharp knife in the attack, leaving her husband with a deep cut to the neck.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident in a statement. He said, “Today, June 29, 2026, at about 9:00 AM, one Jamilu Ibrahim, male, reported at the Central Market Division, Katsina, that on the same date at about 5:30 am, while he was asleep, his wife, one Sadiya Lawal, female, age 23, attacked him with a knife in an attempt to slit his throat. The victim sustained a deep cut injury to the neck.”

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention and is currently responding to treatment.

Following the report, police detectives visited the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack as an exhibit.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue. The police have confirmed that she will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The state Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar Fage, has urged residents to shun domestic violence and resolve family disputes through peaceful and lawful means.
