Paul Pogba Leaves Monaco as Free Agent After Mutual Contract Termination
Former France international Paul Pogba has officially left AS Monaco after the player and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract, bringing his brief spell with the Ligue 1 side to an end.
The 33-year-old midfielder joined Monaco in June 2025 after becoming a free agent following his departure from Juventus and an 18-month doping suspension. However, his time in the Principality was disrupted by recurring fitness problems.
Pogba made just six appearances for Monaco, including one start, and played only 115 minutes during his time at the club. He is currently recovering from another thigh injury after previously dealing with a knee problem.
Monaco said the decision to part ways followed a season in which the objectives agreed between the club and player were not fully achieved. The club nevertheless praised Pogba’s professionalism and influence on younger members of the squad.
Pogba also expressed his appreciation to Monaco, describing his experience with the club as “incredible” and thanking the management, teammates and supporters.
His departure now leaves the 2018 World Cup winner searching for the next chapter of his career.
Pogba’s availability is expected to attract attention from clubs outside Europe. Reports in recent days have linked him with potential opportunities in Major League Soccer (MLS), while Saudi Pro League clubs have also been monitoring his situation.
Reports have previously identified MLS clubs, including LAFC and LA Galaxy, as teams keeping an eye on Pogba’s situation, although no agreement with any club has been confirmed. Saudi Arabia has also emerged as another possible destination.
Pogba’s next move will depend partly on his fitness and how quickly he can return to competitive football. His recent injury problems have limited his playing time considerably since returning from his suspension.
The Frenchman has played only 18 competitive matches since leaving Manchester United in 2022; 12 for Juventus and six for Monaco, highlighting the difficult period he has endured in recent seasons.
Despite the setbacks, Pogba remains one of the most recognisable midfielders of his generation and is now available without a transfer fee, potentially making him an attractive option for clubs seeking an experienced and high-profile player.
His immediate priority, however, will be recovering fully from injury before deciding where to continue his career.
