BREAKING: Imo Monarchs Confer ‘Osodieme’ Chieftaincy Title on First Lady Oluremi Tinubu
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been honoured with the prestigious chieftaincy title of “Osodieme” by traditional rulers in Imo State.
The traditional rulers conferred the title on the First Lady at the Eze Imo Palace in Owerri on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, during her visit to the state for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Mega Empowerment Programme.
The honour was bestowed on Senator Tinubu by traditional rulers from across the state in recognition of her contributions to women, families and vulnerable Nigerians through the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The First Lady is in Imo State for the empowerment programme, which is expected to benefit more than 2,000 people through the distribution of various empowerment materials and support items.
The event is taking place in Owerri as part of the RHI’s ongoing interventions aimed at improving the livelihoods of women, youths and other vulnerable groups across the country.
The conferment of the Osodieme title adds a traditional dimension to the First Lady’s visit and underscores the reception accorded her by the Imo traditional institution.
Senator Tinubu has continued to champion programmes under the Renewed Hope Initiative focusing on economic empowerment, education, health, social investment and support for vulnerable Nigerians.
