2027: APC Governors Draw Battle Line, Reject Alliances Against Tinubu

The Progressive Governors Forum has declared that APC governors will not support or endorse any candidate outside the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections, reaffirming their commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.

Chairman of the forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this on Monday while presenting the communique issued after the governors’ meeting at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

Uzodimma said the governors unanimously resolved not to participate in or support any political alliance or arrangement capable of undermining Tinubu’s reelection, weakening the APC or working against the party’s candidates at any level.

He said, “The Forum has no intention to support any candidate at any level that is not an APC candidate,” stressing that the candidates contesting the 2027 elections would be doing so under the sponsorship of the party.

The governors also announced plans to take charge of Tinubu’s reelection campaign in their respective states, while aligning state level campaign structures with the national campaign architecture.

According to the forum, the campaign will combine grassroots mobilisation with engagement across different segments of society and a performance based narrative centred on what it described as verifiable achievements and measurable outcomes of the Tinubu administration’s reforms.

The governors said the strategy would be adapted to the political, social and cultural realities of individual states while maintaining a coordinated national direction.

The forum dismissed speculation of divisions among APC governors, insisting that its members remained united and committed to delivering victory for Tinubu and all APC candidates in 2027.

The governors further pledged to strengthen party unity, harmonise campaign structures from the national level to the grassroots and advance development in their respective states in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
