Brentford Thrash Chelsea 3–0 in Premier League London Derby

Brentford produced a commanding second-half performance to defeat Chelsea 3–0 in the Premier League on Friday night at the Gtech Community Stadium.

After a goalless first half, the hosts broke the deadlock in the 61st minute when Jaidon Anthony headed Brentford into the lead from a corner.

Chelsea struggled to respond as Brentford continued to threaten on the counter-attack. The Bees doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute through Igor Thiago, who finished after Brentford capitalised on a defensive opening.

Substitute Fábio Carvalho completed the victory in stoppage time, scoring in the 94th minute to seal a comprehensive win for Keith Andrews’ side.

The result marked Brentford’s first home league victory over Chelsea since 1938, according to the Guardian’s match report.

Chelsea had entered the match looking to recover from recent dropped points, but they struggled to turn possession into clear attacking opportunities after the interval.

Brentford, meanwhile, were more clinical when their chances arrived, with their set-piece threat and quick transitions proving decisive.

The defeat leaves Chelsea with seven points after five Premier League matches, while Brentford moved onto nine points following the victory.

For Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, the result represents another setback after the Blues had already conceded points against Arsenal and Hull City in their previous two league matches.

Brentford will take confidence from the performance as the Premier League heads into the first international break of the season.
