The All Progressives Congress (APC) has received a fresh grassroots mobilisation push in the Federal Capital Territory as the FCT Abuja Youth Participation Action Community (FAYPAC) unveils a 23-member steering committee with a target of securing 300,000 votes for the party.

The committee, approved by FAYPAC Convener, Ambassador Ayuba Jacob Ngbako, is expected to coordinate youth mobilisation across the six area councils of the FCT.

Ngbako said the initiative was established to bridge what he described as a gap in political participation among young people aged between 18 and 45, particularly those residing across the territory’s six area councils.

The steering committee comprises six area council coordinators representing AMAC, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji, as well as six coordinators representing the North-Central, North-East, North-West, South-East, South-West and South-South geopolitical zones.

The remaining 11 positions include the women leader, youth leader, organising secretary, publicity secretary, legal adviser and elders, among other officials.

Under the proposed structure, each area council will have a minimum of 17 steering or executive committee members, while three representatives will be appointed for every polling unit across the wards.

According to Ngbako, the organisation plans to establish its presence across all 62 wards and more than 2,500 polling units in the FCT.

He projected that the network could mobilise at least 50,000 votes in each of the six area councils, translating to a cumulative target of 300,000 votes for the APC.

The 23-member steering committee is expected to be inaugurated this week at Ogun House, No. 74, Central Business District, Abuja.

Ngbako said the inauguration would be followed by the rollout of FAYPAC’s structures at the area council and ward levels to strengthen grassroots coordination.

He added that the initiative would focus on expanding youth participation and creating an organised political mobilisation network across the Federal Capital Territory.
