Atiku Abubakar on Thursday led a delegation of top chieftains of the African Democratic Congress on a solidarity visit to former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, at his Abuja residence following the party’s presidential primaries.

The delegation included Austin Akobundu, Aminu Tambuwal, and other senior members of the party.

The visit came shortly after Atiku emerged winner of the keenly contested ADC presidential primaries, where Amaechi finished as runner-up.

According to party insiders, the meeting was aimed at reinforcing unity within the ADC and demonstrating reconciliation and sportsmanship after the primary contest.

The leaders were said to have held discussions in what sources described as a cordial atmosphere, with party stakeholders expressing confidence that the ADC would head into the 2027 general elections as a united political force.

The visit is being interpreted by political observers as an early effort by the party leadership to close ranks and prevent post-primary divisions often associated with major political contests in Nigeria.

The ADC, in a message following the meeting, reiterated its slogan: “Arise and Shine Nigeria.”
