The Dangote Refinery has increased its ex depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) by N75 per litre, raising concerns of another wave of fuel price adjustments across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

The new price adjustment moves petrol from N1,200 per litre to N1,275 per litre, while coastal supply prices have also increased to N1,215 per litre.

The development was confirmed by an official of the refinery and corroborated by pricing data obtained from Petroleumprice.ng.

A source within the refinery said the new price structure took effect following operational adjustments within its supply system.

“Yes, the increase of PMS to N1,275 per litre is true. Coastal price is N1,215,” the source confirmed.

Another source familiar with the operations disclosed that the refinery temporarily halted its Proforma Invoice entry process at about 4pm on Tuesday, disrupting normal fuel loading activities across its distribution system.

The disruption reportedly led to a temporary suspension of petrol and Automotive Gas Oil sales, affecting supply scheduling for marketers and depot operators.

Traders and marketers have reacted with concern, warning that the development could lead to increased depot costs and eventual pump price hikes nationwide.

Industry operators noted that interruptions in loading processes at major supply points often translate into immediate pressure on distribution and retail pricing.

The price adjustment also comes amid rising global crude oil prices. Brent crude reportedly traded at $114.80 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $103.40 per barrel, reflecting gains driven by geopolitical tensions affecting global supply routes.

Analysts say the combined impact of higher crude prices and local supply adjustments could further strain fuel affordability for consumers in Nigeria in the coming weeks.
