A group under the aegis of the Coalition of Delta North Youths has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to arrest and arraign former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, over alleged corruption-related offences.

In a petition addressed to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC and dated April 27, 2026, the group accused the anti-graft agency of failing to prosecute the former governor despite allegations involving the diversion of N13 trillion from the 13 per cent derivation fund allocated to Delta State during his administration between 2015 and 2023.

The coalition also referenced allegations concerning N40 billion allegedly linked to the acquisition of the UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas project.

Signed by Ofochi Benjamin Atagana and Kingsley, identified respectively as Chief and Convener of the group, the petition expressed concern that Okowa remained free and politically active despite the allegations.

According to the group, the delay in prosecuting the former governor could weaken public confidence in the EFCC’s anti-corruption campaign and raise concerns about selective justice.

The coalition demanded the immediate arrest and arraignment of Okowa before a court of competent jurisdiction, insisting that the EFCC must demonstrate that no individual is above the law regardless of political affiliation or status.

The group further threatened to mobilise youths from Delta State for a peaceful occupation of the EFCC headquarters in Abuja if the commission fails to act within seven days.

It stated that the protesters would sustain the sit-in until the former governor is arrested and arraigned.

The petition was also copied to the All Progressives Congress, the Presidency, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
