Fresh video footage has emerged showing the exact moment operatives of the Nigeria Police Force stormed a hideout in Ibadan to rescue Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. The rescue operation took place around 7:30 pm on Saturday, just three days after the family members were abducted while driving to school.

The viral video captures tense scenes as armed officers enter a dark residential building, repeatedly shouting, “We are police, we are police”. In the footage, the visibly frightened mother is seen kneeling on the floor clutching her sons, who appear barely clothed, as the armed men enter the room. One officer reassures them, saying, “Calm down, you’re safe, you’re safe”.

A particularly dramatic moment shows one suspected kidnapper discovered hiding in the ceiling of the apartment. Officers are seen breaking part of the ceiling before ordering him to come down, with one officer warning, “Be careful there. Come down. If you move…”. Another suspect is shown handcuffed in a white singlet while operatives continue searching the premises.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the rescue was achieved through “sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations”. Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Okon Placid stated that investigators tracked the kidnappers’ movements, resulting in a confrontation with FID-IRT operatives. During the gun duel, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered.

The Kidnappers

According to police sources, the victims were rescued unharmed and are now in safe custody receiving medical care and support. Security operatives have intensified efforts in the area to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate, with preliminary intelligence indicating some suspects escaped with gunshot injuries.

Mrs John-Paul and her twin sons were originally abducted on Wednesday, June 3, while she was driving them to school in the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan. The incident occurred just weeks after a separate mass abduction involving over 40 students and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had visited Chief Adebayo Adelabu on Friday to offer reassurance and pledge the state’s full support in securing the release of his relatives.
