The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs Rachael Folake Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, following her release from captivity.

The presentation took place on Monday during Senator Alli’s visit to victims of the recent mass abduction in Oriire Local Government Area, who are currently receiving medical care at the Military Hospital in Ibadan.

Alli was accompanied by the member representing Afijio/Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Akeem Adeyemi.

Mrs Alamu was among the teachers and pupils abducted on May 15, 2026, when gunmen attacked three schools in the Ahoro-Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area.

Throughout her captivity, she became a symbol of resilience after videos released by the kidnappers showed her appealing to authorities while remaining steadfast in her concern for the safety of the abducted children.

The victims regained their freedom on Friday after spending several weeks in captivity, following a coordinated security operation by Nigerian security agencies.

Presenting the vehicle, Senator Alli described the donation as a token of appreciation for Mrs Alamu’s strength, courage, and exemplary leadership throughout the traumatic experience.

The senator noted that the gesture was intended not only to ease her recovery but also to encourage other victims of insecurity not to lose hope, stressing that Nigerians who demonstrate exceptional resilience in difficult circumstances should be celebrated.

Alli said the donation reflects the need for leaders and well-meaning individuals to provide practical support to victims of insecurity, particularly educators who continue to serve their communities under challenging conditions.

He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the victims, describing the operation as a demonstration of what can be achieved through coordinated security operations.

The APC governorship candidate equally paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives during the rescue mission, describing them as national heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.

Mrs Alamu, while receiving the vehicle, expressed profound appreciation to Senator Alli for the unexpected gift, describing it as a demonstration of compassion and solidarity.

She thanked God for preserving her life and those of the other abductees, pledging to remain committed to her responsibilities in the education sector.

Shortly after the rescue, a video circulating online captured the visibly emotional principal asking security operatives about the whereabouts of her husband and her vehicle. Officers quickly assured her that her family was safe and comforted her following the traumatic experience.

The abduction attracted national attention and sparked widespread concern across Nigeria, with sustained calls from parents, civil society groups, and other stakeholders for the victims’ safe return.

The Federal Government confirmed that the victims were rescued through a coordinated security operation without paying ransom or granting concessions to the kidnappers.
