China has firmly rejected claims by the U.S. President Donald Trump that an Iranian-bound cargo ship intercepted by American forces were carrying a “gift” from Beijing, escalating tensions amid the ongoing Iran conflict.

The dispute follows a U.S. military operation in which forces seized an Iranian-flagged vessel reportedly attempting to breach a naval blockade imposed on Iran.

According to U.S. officials, the ship; identified in some reports as the Touska, was suspected of carrying sensitive or dual-use materials that could support Iran’s military capabilities.

Speaking earlier, Trump suggested the cargo may have originated from China, describing it as a possible “gift” intended for Iran.

However, China’s Foreign Ministry swiftly dismissed the accusation as “baseless”, insisting that there is no evidence to support such claims. Chinese officials emphasized that normal trade relations between countries should not be politicized or disrupted by unfounded allegations.

Beijing also reiterated its stance of neutrality in the broader conflict, calling for restraint and diplomatic engagement to avoid further escalation in the region.

Meanwhile, Iran condemned the U.S. seizure of the vessel, describing it as “armed piracy” and warning of possible retaliation.

The incident adds to rising geopolitical tensions involving the United States, China, and Iran, particularly as Washington continues to enforce a naval blockade aimed at restricting Tehran’s access to international trade routes.

Analysts warn that such confrontations could further destabilize the already volatile situation in the Middle East.
