King Charles III has made clear that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not return to official royal duties, despite their recent return to the United Kingdom.

In a formal letter circulated by the Lord Chamberlain to senior government, military and civic officials, the King reaffirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain non-working members of the Royal Family. The move appears designed to remove any uncertainty over their status following their return to Britain.

The clarification comes after Harry, Meghan and their two children recently returned to the UK after spending years living in California. Their relocation had sparked speculation about whether the couple could resume some form of official royal role or establish a more visible presence within the monarchy.

According to the reports, the King’s letter makes clear that there has been no change to the arrangement established after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Their charitable activities remain personal initiatives rather than engagements carried out on behalf of the monarchy.
