FG BANS ADMISSION AND TRANSFER INTO SS3 NATIONWIDE TO FIGHT EXAM MALPRACTICE
The Federal Government has announced a nationwide prohibition on admitting or transferring students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in all public and private schools. The directive, issued through the Federal Ministry of Education, aims to curb rampant examination malpractice.

In a statement, the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, said the policy follows growing concerns over malpractice, including the use of “special centres” during external exams, which undermine the system’s integrity. The Ministry explained that the measure is aimed at discouraging last-minute movement of students for examination-related advantages, ensuring proper academic monitoring, and promoting continuity.

The policy will take effect from the 2026/27 academic calendar. Admissions and transfers will now be restricted strictly to SS1 and SS2, with SS3 admission barred under any circumstance. Folasade stated that school proprietors, principals, and administrators must comply fully, as violations will attract sanctions under existing regulations.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Folasade said the move is part of efforts to maintain standards, promote fairness, and restore credibility to public examinations across Nigeria.
