Fubara Swears In 12 Permanent Secretaries, Urges Integrity and Selfless Service

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has sworn in 12 new Permanent Secretaries, charging them to uphold integrity, professionalism and accountability as they assume leadership positions in the state’s civil service.

The governor said the appointments were aimed at strengthening the administrative capacity of his government and improving service delivery across ministries.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, Fubara reminded the newly appointed officials that their elevation to the highest managerial cadre of the civil service was a call to serve the people rather than an opportunity for personal gain.

“I do not have any other charge. The charge is the oath you’ve taken. The oath spells it out. Do right to all—every man and woman. Do right to your state and do right to the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor said.

He urged the permanent secretaries to remain faithful to the oath of office by carrying out their responsibilities with fairness, diligence and impartiality, stressing that effective leadership in the civil service is critical to the success of government programmes.

Describing the appointments as a call to service, Fubara said the new permanent secretaries would head various ministries and were expected to provide the leadership needed to improve efficiency within the state’s bureaucracy.

“It is a call to service. You are the heads of your ministries wherever you may be sent. You are at the peak of the managerial cadre of the civil service. You are at the head, so you need to do the work as somebody who is at the head.

“I believe that your coming on board will bring changes and effectiveness to the system. When we are done with our own, I believe that your good work will help whoever is coming to take over from us to continue with the good work in our dear state,” he added.

The oath of office was administered by the Deputy Chief Registrar (Administration) of the High Court of Rivers State, Magistrate Betty Sunny-Hart.

The newly sworn-in permanent secretaries are Freddy Ndigbara, Fortune Akpila, Dr. Promise Oguzie, Ibisoye Lolomari Nwankwo, Ibiyemibara Joseph Uzoma, Mercy Dagogo Iboroma, Dr. Vincent Worgu Wachukwu, Ifeanyi Anthony Ogboma, Dr. Mina Gogo Jim-Jaja, Henry Uzor, Chimenum Anebo Mpi and Dr. Mina Tele Ikuru.

Governor Fubara congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence that they would justify the trust reposed in them through dedicated service, ethical leadership and commitment to advancing the development of Rivers State.
