NCAA CRACKS DOWN ON AIRLINES OVER FLIGHT DISRUPTIONS

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has called an emergency meeting with 13 domestic airlines to address the growing concerns over flight delays and cancellations. The meeting comes after mounting passenger frustration and a surge in unruly behavior at airports, partly attributed to airlines’ failure to comply with aviation regulations.

The NCAA has warned that it will no longer tolerate airlines’ non-compliance with regulations and will apply the fullest measures possible for sanctionable infractions. The authority is particularly concerned about airlines abandoning passengers late at night without providing adequate support, leaving NCAA officials to deal with the fallout.

The meeting will focus on several key issues, including passenger handling standards, refund and compensation claims, safety protocols, and the rollout of new technologies. The NCAA has also announced plans to begin “naming and shaming” airlines that consistently flout the rules.

“We will not abandon the letters of our regulations,” said Michael Achimugu, NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection. “The era of leniency is over, and we expect airlines to meet regulatory standards if they want to be seen as world-class operators.”
