NIGERIA LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING TELEHEALTH INITIATIVE
Nigeria has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing its healthcare system with the launch of a pioneering telehealth application by Home Health Management Services Limited. The initiative, unveiled on September 9, 2025, in Abuja, aims to provide instant and rapid healthcare access to Nigerians from the comfort of their healthcare homes via mobile phones.

The initiative is a result of strategic international partnerships with leading Indian health-tech firms and hospitals, including Tirubaa Technology, Asian Super Speciality Hospital, and Panacea. According to Mr. Sam Adejoh Okedi, Founder of Home Health Management Services Limited, the vision is to establish a continental footprint, providing telehealth services across Africa from its base in Nigeria.
“The deployment of telehealth could save Nigeria up to $10 billion annually by reducing lost manpower due to worker absenteeism, the spread of contagious diseases, and mortality rates among children and pregnant women through readily available consultation,” Okedi said.

The service promises to deliver comprehensive medical consultations, including diagnosis, laboratory referrals, and pharmacy services, through a single digital platform. Summit Gupta, Director of Panacea & Asian Hospitals, described the initiative as a bilateral partnership aimed at bridging gaps in expertise, technology, and rapid healthcare service delivery between India and Nigeria.

The launch event featured powerful endorsements from stakeholders, including Ms. Catherine Ajefu, a representative of Warrior Sickle Cell Organization, and Dr. Joy Audu, a medical practitioner and public health advocate. Hon. David Idris Zakaria, a member of the House of Representatives, also praised the initiative, confirming that lawmakers are already engaged on the issue of data protection for telehealth.
The initiative is expected to improve accessibility, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of life for Nigerians, particularly those with chronic diseases. With the National Assembly ready to embrace and legislate for such beneficial innovations, the future of telehealth in Nigeria looks promising.
