NIGERIAN GUILD OF EDITORS SHIFTS ALL NIGERIA EDITORS CONFERENCE 2025 TO NOVEMBER
The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has announced a shift in the dates for the All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) 2025 to November 12-13, 2025, due to circumstances beyond its control. The conference will still hold in Abuja, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare it open as the Special Guest of Honour on November 12, 2025.

In a press statement issued by Eze Anaba, the President, and Onuoha Ukeh, the General Secretary, the Guild expressed regret over the change and apologized to members, invited guests, and the general public. “The Standing Committee of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) regrets to inform members, invited guests and the general public that due to circumstances beyond its control, the All Nigeria Editors Conference (ANEC) 2025 has been shifted to November 12-13, 2025. The venue remains the same (Abuja). We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this change of date may cause you,” the statement said.
The Guild assured that the conference would remain a credible platform for discussing national issues. “We promise that despite the change of date, the ANEC 2025 would be a credible platform to discuss and proffer solutions to issues pertaining to national development and cohesion,” the statement added. President Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, will open the event, with dignitaries from government, academia, media, organized private sector, and diplomatic corps in attendance.
The theme of the conference is “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors,” with a sub-theme “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027.” A keynote address will be delivered on these topics, alongside other papers. These include “Election Disputes and Judicial Integrity: Navigating the Thin Line Between Law and Politics” by Prof Awa Kalu, SAN, Managing Partner of Awa Kalu & Partners, Abuja; “State of the Nation: Imperative of Economic and Political Reforms in Challenged Nation” by Prof Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, HOD of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Abuja; “The Evolving Face of Journalism: Battling Misinformation, AI Disruption, and Credibility Gap” by Prof Abiodun Adeniyi, Dean of the School of Post-Graduate Studies at Baze University; and “Media, Terrorism, and National Security: Addressing the Complexities” by Lt-General Lucky Irabor (retd), former Chief of Defence Staff.
The NGE also highlighted that an Executive Session will take place on the second day, where editors will interrogate government officials, political and business leaders. The ANEC is an annual event that brings editors together to address national issues with social, economic, and political consequences. This year’s conference is expected to attract no fewer than 500 members and is designed to promote national development and cohesion through responsible and responsive journalism.
