Northern Senators Urge FG To Reinforce Security In Adamawa After Military Attacks
Northern senators have called on the Federal Government to urgently strengthen security along the Kopre-Sambisa corridor of Adamawa State following attacks on two military battalions.
The lawmakers made the call after attacks on the 226 Battalion in Garkida and the 232 Battalion in Garaha, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of three soldiers, a forest guard and civilians.
In a statement issued by their Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the senators described the attacks as a serious assault on Adamawa State, the North and the country.
They urged the Defence Headquarters to deploy a coordinated and unified strategy to confront insurgent threats in the affected communities and prevent further attacks on military formations and civilians.
The lawmakers also called on the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the North East Development Commission, NEDC, to urgently provide relief materials and support to families and communities displaced by the attacks.
They further appealed to residents of the affected areas to work closely with security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence that could help security personnel prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.
