The Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, has assured residents of the North-East region of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military extended felicitations to Muslim faithful ahead of the Eid celebrations scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, 2026.

The command stated that comprehensive security measures had already been put in place across the theatre of operations to ensure peaceful celebrations and protect lives and property during the festive period.

According to the statement, credible intelligence available to the command indicated possible attempts by remnants of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province to exploit the festive season to launch attacks on civilian targets using suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices, particularly in densely populated areas.

However, the command assured residents that the threats had been anticipated and necessary preventive measures activated.

The military disclosed that troops had been forward-deployed to critical and vulnerable locations across all sectors of the North-East, while surveillance and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets had been fully activated.

It added that patrols had been intensified and security agencies were working closely with sister agencies, the Civilian Joint Task Force and community vigilance groups to prevent any security breach.

Operation Hadin Kai also issued security advisories to residents, urging them to conduct Eid prayers and festivities close to their homes and familiar environments where possible.

Residents were advised to remain vigilant in crowded areas such as markets, motor parks, banking halls and prayer grounds, while promptly reporting suspicious persons, unattended objects or unusual movements to security agencies.

The command further appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel during patrols and screening operations, avoid unnecessary movement at night and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

It also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, media organisations and community stakeholders to encourage the timely sharing of credible intelligence with security agencies.

Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and ensuring that residents celebrate Eid-el-Kabir in peace, safety and dignity across the North-East region.
