Suspected fighters of Boko Haram have released a video allegedly showing 176 people abducted during a recent attack on Woro community in Kwara State, intensifying concerns over rising insecurity in the area.

The footage, said to have been obtained by SaharaReporters, shows rows of captives—including women, children and a nursing mother—while armed men question them about their origins. Several of the victims, speaking in Hausa, stated they were seized during the raid on the rural settlement in Kaiama Local Government Area.

In the recording, the attackers accused state authorities of understating the scale of the abduction, claiming officials reported between 20 and 30 victims, whereas they alleged that 176 people were in their custody.

Residents said the assault occurred on February 4 and left dozens dead, including members of the family of the traditional ruler, a school principal and other villagers. The monarch, Saliu Bio Umar, was also reported missing after the attack, raising fears about his whereabouts.

Witnesses further alleged that homes and the emir’s palace were set ablaze during the raid, worsening anxiety among residents about expanding militant activity in parts of the state.

Authorities had not issued an updated official statement on the claims as of the time of filing this report.
