The Transmission Company of Nigeria has successfully restored the Benin-Omotosho 330kV transmission line, ending a week-long outage that disrupted electricity supply to parts of Lagos, Edo, and neighbouring states.

The company announced that the high-voltage line was re-energised at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, following the completion of emergency repairs by its engineers.

TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, who is the General Manager of Public Affairs, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. She explained that the outage began on June 25, 2026, after conductors on the line became detached.

“TCN engineers have since worked to restring and complete maintenance on the affected sections of the transmission line,” the statement said.

With the line now back in service, three electricity distribution companies will benefit directly. “Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Eko Electricity Distribution Plc and Ikeja Electric will be able to off-take more power for supply to their customers in their franchise areas,” the company stated.

TCN had earlier restored the Benin-Egbin 330kV line days earlier, but repairs on the Omotosho route continued until Thursday’s successful energisation.

The company apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and appreciated the understanding and cooperation of all affected customers during the repair period.

TCN reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the reliability of the national transmission network through prompt maintenance and swift response to infrastructure faults.
