The Wait Is Over: Fury and Joshua Finally Get Their Fight

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in the ring after their long-awaited heavyweight showdown was officially confirmed for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.

The announcement ends years of speculation surrounding a fight between two of Britain’s biggest heavyweight boxing stars, who have held multiple world titles but have never previously faced each other professionally. The bout was confirmed on Thursday by Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh, with Netflix set to stream the event globally.

The fight had been the subject of prolonged negotiations over its date and location. London, New York and other venues had been discussed before Cardiff was selected. Principality Stadium, which has a retractable roof and has hosted major sporting events, will provide the setting for the clash.

Fury and Joshua have been linked with a potential fight for more than a decade. Both fighters have enjoyed lengthy careers at the top level and have held world heavyweight championships.

Fury enters the bout with a professional record of 39 wins, two losses and one draw, including 25 victories by knockout, according to Matchroom Boxing. Joshua has a record of 30 wins and four losses, with 27 of his victories coming by knockout.

Fury returned to action in 2026 after a period away from the ring, recording victories over Arslanbek Makhmudov and Mariusz Wach. Joshua has also returned to winning ways, defeating Jake Paul and Kristian Prenga in his most recent contests.

Neither fighter currently holds all four major heavyweight world titles, but their respective records and previous championship successes have made the contest one of the most anticipated boxing events of recent years.

Netflix confirmed that the fight will be streamed globally to its members at no additional cost. A press conference involving both fighters is scheduled for September 30 in London, while details of the undercard are expected to be announced later.

The December 11 contest will therefore mark the first professional meeting between Fury and Joshua, bringing to the ring a rivalry that has largely existed through negotiations, public statements and years of anticipation.
