Chelsea Held to 2-2 Draw by Unbeaten Hull City at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by newly promoted Hull City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with the visitors extending their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 Premier League season.

Chelsea took an early lead through Morgan Rogers, who finished in the seventh minute to put Xabi Alonso’s side in front.

Hull, however, responded strongly and turned the game around through Mohamed Belloumi. The Algerian forward scored twice, in the 28th and 34th minutes, to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.

Chelsea eventually found a way back into the contest when João Pedro scored in the 66th minute to restore parity.

The Blues pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but Hull defended resolutely to secure a valuable point away from home. The result leaves Hull unbeaten after four league matches, having collected eight points from their opening fixtures.

For Chelsea, the draw continued concerns about their defensive performances. The London club have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season, despite a major summer overhaul of their squad.

The result will also frustrate Alonso, whose side had to recover from another defensive lapse after allowing Hull to score twice in the first half. The Chelsea manager has called for greater control and consistency from his players as they attempt to build momentum under his leadership.

Hull’s impressive start, meanwhile, has made their return to the Premier League particularly encouraging. After defeating Manchester United 2-0 in their opening match, the Tigers have continued to pick up points against top-flight opposition and currently sit among the early pace-setters.

Chelsea will now have to address their defensive shortcomings quickly, while Hull will look to maintain their remarkable unbeaten run as the season progresses.
