Tinubu Hosts NBA President-Elect Badejo-Okusanya at State House

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received the President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, during a courtesy visit to the State House in Abuja ahead of her inauguration.

Badejo-Okusanya was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Caleb University, Prof. Foluke Dada-Lawanson; President of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Mrs. Ezinwa Okoroafor; FCT Lead of the NBA Women Forum, Princess Hadiza Afegbua; and the BBold Campaign Team Publicity Lead, Mrs. Ramlat Ridhwan.

The visit comes ahead of the Nigerian Bar Association’s Annual General Conference in Enugu next month, where Badejo-Okusanya will formally assume office as the association’s 33rd president for a two-year tenure.

Badejo-Okusanya made history following her election on July 19, becoming the first woman to be directly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association and only the second woman to lead the association after Chief Priscilla Kuye, who served as NBA president between 1991 and 1992.

She will succeed the outgoing NBA President, Mr. Afam Osigwe, SAN, at the conclusion of the annual conference.

Photographs released from the State House showed President Tinubu welcoming the NBA president-elect and members of her delegation during the courtesy visit.

Details of discussions at the meeting were not immediately disclosed, but the visit formed part of engagements ahead of Badejo-Okusanya’s formal inauguration as head of Nigeria’s foremost legal association.
