President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran sports administrator Ibrahim Galadima, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 78.

Galadima, a respected figure in Nigerian sports and community leadership, served in multiple capacities at both the state and federal levels. He was a former chairman of the Kano State Sports Council and also held office twice as a commissioner in Kano State.

At the national level, Galadima played a key role in football administration, serving as president of the now-defunct Nigeria Football Association between 2002 and 2006. The NFA later evolved into the Nigeria Football Federation.

Beyond sports, he was a prominent traditional leader and community figure. He held the title of Galadiman Fagge, serving as the head of the Fagge community in Kano.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Galadima’s passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s sports sector and the nation at large.

The President highlighted his enduring contributions to the growth of football in Nigeria, noting that his impact spanned both grassroots development and elite-level administration.

Tinubu also extended his condolences to Galadima’s family, the government and people of Kano State, as well as the wider sports community in Nigeria and beyond.
