Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation Of FRC Chairman, Ambassadors, Civil Service Commissioner

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted several requests to the Senate seeking the confirmation of nominees to key federal institutions as the upper chamber resumed plenary on Tuesday.

Among the requests is the confirmation of Abdullahi Maikano as Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, alongside six other nominees proposed as members of the commission’s board.

The Senate also received a separate communication from the President seeking the confirmation of Sani Ndanusa as a non-career ambassador.

In another request, Tinubu asked the Senate to confirm Wakil Bukar as a member of the Federal Civil Service Commission.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has transmitted the National Postgraduate Medical College Amendment Bill, 2026, to the Senate for consideration.

The proposed legislation seeks to expand the mandate of the National Postgraduate Medical College to enhance its responsibilities in postgraduate medical education and training.

The government also requested Senate approval for the establishment of a National Research Development Fund, aimed at supporting research and development activities.

In addition, the Federal Government submitted the 2026 statutory budget proposal of the Niger Delta Development Commission to the Senate for consideration and approval.

The requests form part of the legislative business before the Senate following its resumption of plenary on Tuesday.
