President Bola Tinubu has challenged physicians across West Africa to develop practical solutions to the region’s medical brain drain, warning that the loss of skilled health professionals is placing increasing pressure on healthcare systems.

Tinubu made the call in Abuja after being conferred with a Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians, which recognised his administration’s health sector reforms.

The College said the fellowship had been conferred only eight times in its 50-year history.

The President pledged to sustain reforms aimed at improving access to affordable healthcare, urging physicians to use their forthcoming conference to develop actionable strategies for addressing the migration of medical professionals from the region.
