University of Ibadan Launches 100% Online Postgraduate Programmes for 2026

The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced the introduction of fully online postgraduate programmes for the 2026 academic intake, expanding access to its postgraduate education for professionals and graduates in Nigeria, Africa and the Nigerian diaspora.

The programmes, approved by the University Senate for 100 per cent online delivery, will be offered through the university’s UI eCampus platform.

According to the university, applications will open soon for a range of academic and professional master’s degree programmes as well as postgraduate diploma programmes.

The institution said the initiative is designed to enable qualified candidates to obtain University of Ibadan postgraduate qualifications without relocating or putting their careers and other personal responsibilities on hold.

All programmes offered through UI eCampus will be delivered online and taught by University of Ibadan faculty, with the university maintaining responsibility for academic standards and quality assurance.

The university also announced that flexible tuition payment by instalments would be available, subject to the terms of individual programmes.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, University of Ibadan, Professor Simisola O. Akintola, described the initiative as part of the institution’s strategy to expand access to postgraduate education while embracing new approaches to programme delivery.

She said the collaboration with Astria Learning represented a significant step in the university’s efforts to expand access while maintaining the academic standards associated with the institution.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Astria Learning, Dr Jeff Bordes, said UI eCampus would provide an opportunity for professionals who may be unable to leave their jobs or families to pursue postgraduate education.

He said the platform would allow students to study from their current locations while accessing instruction from University of Ibadan faculty and lecturers from other leading universities.

The university said the online programmes are intended to serve working professionals and graduates seeking advanced qualifications without the need for physical relocation.

Prospective applicants have been advised to obtain the programme prospectus for information on available courses, programme structures and entry requirements.

Applicants will be required to meet the university’s general admission requirements as well as any additional requirements specified for their chosen programmes.

The university said applications would be submitted online, with only complete applications accompanied by the required documentation considered.

Programme-specific application procedures and deadlines will be announced through the UI eCampus platform.

The University of Ibadan, established as Nigeria’s premier university, said the eCampus initiative is part of its broader effort to extend access to quality higher education beyond its physical campus.

Through the platform, the university aims to provide a flexible digital learning environment for eligible students while maintaining the academic standards associated with its postgraduate programmes.

The institution urged interested candidates to register their interest and obtain the prospectus ahead of the opening of the 2026 application portal.
