2027: Federal Parastatal CEOs Set 10m Vote Target For Tinubu, Name Akume Patron

The Forum of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Parastatals has appointed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, as its patron and pledged to mobilise at least 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The decision was announced when a 20 member delegation of the forum paid a courtesy visit to Akume in Abuja.

The forum’s Chairman, Dr Kazeem Raji, who is also Director General of the National Board for Technology Incubation, said the appointment was in recognition of Akume’s leadership, experience and contributions to coordinating government institutions.

Raji said the forum would support Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid through lawful, peaceful and issue based engagement, while stressing that its activities would focus on communicating government policies and programmes to Nigerians.

“We recognise the enormous responsibility you carry at the centre of government,” Raji told the SGF, while commending what he described as Akume’s institutional stewardship, wisdom, experience and commitment to coordinating the government machinery.

According to him, members of the forum appreciated Akume’s diligence, discretion and statesmanship, which he said had contributed to the administration’s pursuit of its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Raji also announced the forum’s target of securing at least 10 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The Chairman of the Publicity Committee, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, corroborated the position, saying the CEOs were prepared to support the President’s bid.

Ajiboye described the chief executives of federal parastatals as key implementers of government policies and programmes, saying they constitute a major part of what he called the administration’s “real work engine.”

He said the forum’s political engagement ahead of the 2027 election would include lawful and peaceful campaigns, policy dialogue, public communication on government programmes and the creation of channels through which citizens could express concerns and provide feedback.

Responding, Akume described his appointment as patron as both a privilege and a call to service.

The SGF, who was represented at the meeting by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Mrs Augusta Warrens, pledged continued support for stronger inter agency cooperation and assistance from his office to improve the efficiency of public institutions.

Akume also commended the forum for its efforts to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda and urged its members to intensify efforts to communicate the administration’s programmes and achievements to the public, while addressing what he described as disinformation.
