A Nigerian soldier narrowly escaped death after being swept away by floodwaters in Auchi, Edo State. The incident occurred when the soldier, attached to the Army School in Nicoho, attempted to cross a drainage channel near Igbira Camp but lost his balance and fell in.

Fortunately, passersby and local residents quickly responded to his plight, running after him on the road and setting up a barricade at the other end of the drainage to rescue him. Thanks to their timely intervention, the soldier was rescued alive.

The soldier, whose identity has not been disclosed, was attached to a training institution in Auchi, not under the 4 Brigade’s command, according to a source close to the Brigade. Despite efforts, the spokesman for the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army could not be reached for comments.
