SUPER FALCONS READY FOR WAFCON FINAL SHOWDOWN AGAINST MOROCCO
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of their highly anticipated 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final clash against hosts Morocco. The team, led by coach Justine Madugu, held their first training session at the FUS Academie training complex in Rabat on Thursday, with all players except Francisca Ordega participating due to an ongoing injury.

“We are grateful to God for reaching the final,” Madugu said. “I assure you that we will not waver or lose focus. Our aim is to lift the trophy in Rabat on Saturday.” The Super Falcons are gunning for their record-extending 10th WAFCON title after defeating South Africa 2-1 in the semifinals, thanks to a stunning stoppage-time goal by defender Michelle Alozie.
Morocco, on the other hand, secured their spot in the final by defeating Ghana 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time. As tournament hosts, they will be aiming to capture their first continental title in front of their home crowd. The final match will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday, July 27, at 9 PM WAT. With their experience and squad strength, Nigeria is confident of maintaining their dominance over African women’s football.
